This is a little guy that I photographed early this year with his family. He now has two younger siblings. This was photographed the fall of 2004. Yes, this little guy (Tyler) was one-year old 7 years ago.

Today, I am doing FLASHBACK FRIDAY posts for all three of my blogs. I find myself looking at the previous Flashback Friday posts. Many times I've gone back several years. But since my beautiful daughter just moved to Monroe recently, I find myself flashing back to one year ago. Our lives have changed significantly...so how can I not?

These images of Cari ended up pretty much being her official senior portraits of her in her cheerleader uniform. I took these just over a year ago for the football program book. She made All American just a month before this a cheer camp. To say I am proud of this child of mine is an understatement.

Please forgive me for the previous post. I was not paying attention and posted a personal post on this blog. After all the time I put into it, I can't bring myself to delete. So bear with me until I get a new post. I should have one soon for the beautiful baby session that I photographed yesterday.

MOVE-IN-MADNESS DAY (August 15, 2011)

Cari's last day home was a Sunday. After church we had lunch as a family with Cari's boyfriend, John Mark and his family, at her favorite restaurant in Natchez, LaFiesta. [All the time and money that she and her friends spent there the past few years--she should have owned stock in the place. LOL...Now that she wouldn't be going there several times a week now, made her want her last after church lunch there.] After lunch she spend some time at with his family and then came home to finish packing. She picked up a movie for all us to watch. Before the movie, we moved most of her things she had packed to to the porch.
I don't think this photo actually does it justice as far as how much she had. I told her she didn't' have to take it all now, but you know how daughter's often don't want to listen to their moms. Well, this was one of those times. Behind here are four larger Rubber Maid boxes of "stuff" stacked to two high. She's so excited.

He was even helpful in loading the vehicles with the heavy boxes. And yes, they were heavy! One box alone was nothing but shoes!

Randy's truck loaded. We decided to go ahead and load up that night since we were planning to leave early.

We probably didn't really need three vehicles, but we wanted Randy to be able to come back home after he unloaded boxes and such. I wanted to be able to stay as late as I needed to to get her settled...which is why we used 3 vehicles to move one college student into her dorm. We had most of her stuff in Randy's truck and her SUV before we even started on mine. So we used the back of mine for her closet. Yes, this was her entire closet (less the shoes).

Her closet and space was NOT as large as she thought and she did send some things back with me.

I had to go by her the plastic chest of drawers. And I still brought a few clothes home. So far all she has been wearing are her workout shorts and tees. I wouldn't be surprised if she brings more clothes home soon.

They have this nice little foyer/kitchenette area for their microwave and fridge.

Cari painted this at Catherine's Senior Paint Party back in May.

They even had a nice size bathroom.

Erin and I have them in good shape for toilet paper and cleaning suppies! I think this will be enough for this semester and next. [Notice the Rubber Maid box below the towels.]

I forgot photograph a view like this in Cari's room showing how she did her jewelry and such behind her dorm door. Trust me...it was cute and organized too!

Trying to get a casual shot of them in the room watching TV or something, but there someting about telling people to act normal that prevents them from doing so.

JM car and Cari's in the parking lot...like I said I got a little carried away in documentation some days.

Cari and JM started walking toward his car when we were leaving to go to the restuarant. I was like "Hello"..."she can ride with you all the time now, but I am about to leave to go back home." I wanted to have a few minutes of alone time with my baby girl since we had not really had much since leaving the house. I wanted an opportunity to tell her how proud that I am of her and jsut how "okay" I am about leaving her because I know she is ready. It is so much easier to let go as a parent, when we know our child is ready for the next phase.

My car was further down. After I ran to walmart this last time, I had to park further down.

I realized while we were having dinner that I forgot to have someone take a photo of me and Cari in her dorm...after all, I was the one who spent hours and dollars helping her get it all together. So I asked John Mark to take one before I left...before I hugged them bye and gave her the letter that I wrote that morning before we left. I didn't cry when I left, but I did when I wrote that letter.

I will do one more post on this give a few more details without photos of things about this day that I want to remember. Photos trigger memory, but sometimes we need to write our thoughts down that do not have a visual image to trigger memories. Some things are truly Worth Remembering.

This beautiful baby girl was such an intense baby. She just wasn't into laughing or smiling at all. From time to time, she gave us a half-smile for a half-second! But who says you have to smile to be beautiful? These images prove that you don't... One of my very favorite quotes about babies...

Beautiful family...her mommy and daddy can't help but smile. This baby girl just make them giddy. They love her so...

WOW! Two posts in a day!

NEW YEARS SPECIAL AND POLL!

The actual date has not been set but either the end of January or Early February, I will doing another portrait event. This one will be non-theme related. It will be perfect for the family, children, child who just needs an updated portrait. I plan to do either black on black (wear black tops and dark pants) or white on white (white clothing with white background). Both of these styles make classic, timeless wall portraits and just great all around portraits to capture this stage in your child's/family's life at this time.

I am going to do a poll to see which you would like. So I want you to you tell me so I will know what the general concensus is and so that I can provide a service that you want. ~~jami~~

Yes, I've been MIA again. I have been much to busy too be a good blogger this fall/winter. I did pretty good with facebook until the Holiday Rush really hit. Then it was Christmas. I took off a little time to enjoy with my family for the holidays. I am working this week trying to do some catching up, updating and working on some New Year's promotion.

It was a busy year from spring until Christmas. This was my first full year to do my new SESSION FEE PORTRAIT PACKAGES. So I've had time to see what works and what needed tweaking and I did that along the way, but now I've updated the LINK to reflect the changes. So feel free to check that out. It includes more specific details than when originally created.

Stay tuned for a poll that I plan to start today or tomorrow about my new PORTRAIT EVENT.

Yes, my husband and I celebrated 25 years of marriage and we're celebrating it with our whole family. HELLO BLOGGING FOLKS...

not sure how many of you are still out there. I wonder if you have found yourself more into facebook than blogging...oh never mind, that's me!

So yes, I have been MISSING IN ACTION...what looks like 2 months since my last post. School is back in session. My daughter is a senior high school. YIKES!!! My beautiful, little, sweetheart granddaughter is in "real" school, aka, Kindergarten. Cotton is being harvested and my hubby is ginning cotton and the fall/holiday season of portrait has begun here. I've been doing my PORTRAIT SESSION FEE PACKAGES now for a year.

Overall the new way of doing buisness has been good. [See all the images on facebook.] Since it has now been a year, a year of trial an error, I think it is time to tweak my pricing and really advertise it. I think people are loving owning their own digital files and I am loving consistent income that comes with this type of session fee package plan. I am still over working them...which why I think it is time to tweak a bit, but overall I think this is "just right". So stay tuned as I update the link that is called, PORTRAIT SESSION FEE PACKAGES. It will remain the same page, I will just edit. So be sure and look again if you have been interested in booking a session, but haven't. There may be changes made by the time you actually book your session.

If you haven't been on facebook lately take a look. There's a link provided to the left. I recently held a contest for upcoming LSU/SAINTS PORTRAIT EVENTS that is coming up next Saturday, October 16th. This is little MISS MADISON. She is 16 months old. I met her last week when I photographed this little adorable little thing. You can't deny that she is is tutu cute in the this tutu.

Congratulations to The Grand Prize Winner of the NAME THE PHOTO CONTEST, Holly McDonald. Also Congrats to Holly and her family on their new expectation. I have photographed Holly's first two adorably plump new babies both when they were about 6 weeks of age. She worked so hard sending people to vote so that she could save money on another Newborn Baby Session. She wants to have this baby photographed around the same age as her first two, Ava and Maddox, but she is considering doing them at the true newborn age 2 weeks or under. In the photography industry, newborn age is much younger than the clinical age. To photograph those little curled up newborns in the new style of new baby portraiture they must be photographed ASAP!

FIRST PLACE GRAND PRIZE WINNER:

With over 200 votes HOLLY wins 50% off any portrait session (up to $200 off) and she will also receive a 11x14 Heirloom Wall Portraits ($100 value).

I was in awe of how well this contest went: how quickly the votes added up; the response of the contestants at referring people to the jami ainsworth portraits facebook page and just how much I enjoyed seeing the numbers add up. There over 600 votes on the poll and also many additional votes fron the contest on the facebook page. The original contest was for 50% off for any portrait session package, value up to $200. Holly and another contestant were so close at time and the she took the lead. So as to reward both for being well above the others I am giving them both 50% off which is the reason I added the additional portrait to Holly's gift prize package.

Since the contest went so well and so many worked so hard to get the votes in I am adding runner-up prizes as well.

FIRST RUNNER-UP: Deidra Cox with 134 votes for "Where's the Party?". She will win 50% off any session fee package. She has an "almost" one-year old grandson who she is wanting to be photographed very soon.
SECOND RUNNER-UP: Crystal Shows-Tipton with 74 votes for "So we've established that I am the princess in this operation, my question is why am I sitting here waiting for my cake, presents, prince charming...? Someone is fired!" She will win $100 off any session fee package. I know Crystal has been planning to do family portraits and her son will soon be turning one. Maybe she'll choose a combination portrait session.

LITTLE MISS LILY....

Little Miss Lily was photographed approximately 3 years ago (May 3, 2007), pre-blogging days, thus her images were never posted or blogged. So how appropriate to post these. I was going through a phase of using different tones and tints. I've gone back to more classic style and who knows maybe I will play more again soon, but I did learn through that phase as interesting and as pretty as they are, what usually sells are more traditional images. That is probably why I ended up gettting back the basics more. But who knows what phase I will go through next as I photographer. I do KNOW that I still really like these images. I hope you enjoy seeing them too!

Austin was 7 weeks old. A little older than I recommend for a newborn session. So I will just say this session was a "new baby" session. Wasn't he such a handsome/beautiful new baby!

I first met this little guy almost 5 years ago. He was past the ideal age for a newborn session so he wasn't the most cooperative little guy. He fought sleep...didn't curl up like a newborn...well, he was about 6 weeks when we did the session and he was born a large newborn. He wasn't wasting time about growing up either. He was gaining weight very quickly. He, in my opinion, probably because my babies and grandbaby at the time was small, was a large baby and quite adorable with those big blue eyes.

See what I mean? Here he is a few months later a much more happier baby.

Today this little guy is 5 years old. Happy Birthday, Conner!

As a photographer, it is so neat to watch children grow up in photographs!

Before Bunny Portraits, I had a little photo contest? "Who is this Wednesday?" is what I called it. The winner of the contest had to identify two of the three babies that I had featured.

No one was even attempting a guess at these babies. I new it had been a while since these babies were about 5 years old or older. They were babies that were photographed at a previous Bunnies and Babies event (from 2004). Yeah, it had been awhile, so I decided to change it up a bit and make it tad easier. This time the winner would be the first person who could name two out of three of the babies. Some one did and it was a young girl that I have never met in person...only via Internet. Her name is Brittanie. She is an aspiring young photographer still in high school. She became my blog follower immediately and facebook friend too. She gave me the sweetest compliments. Apparently, I've inspired someone who is interested in photography, something I do not feel worthy. With the anxiety that I have experienced in my personal life and business the last few years, I have not felt extremely impressed with my own work. So with that being said, it is very inspiring to know that I have inspired someone else. If you would like to view some of Brittanie's images, CLICK HERE.

Back to the images that I've posted, these images were captured by woman who inspires me in so many ways. I first met Rachel when I purchased a Christmas tutu from her as a prop. She asked if I was on facebook. I said yeah! But I really wasn't too facebook savvy at the time. Little did I know that this meeting was the beginning of a long distance friendship. Rachel business blossomed last year. She has a boutique business from her home and more recently she has started her own photography business. Talking about a multi-tasking, talented, inspirational woman, who is also the mommy of two small boys! WOW! Just describing this person makes me tired. Rachel is already an awesome photographer! When someone picks up a camera and has such a great vision along with awesome photo shop skills that they become a great photographer, it makes me want to quit. It makes me wonder do I have what it takes these days. Then I bring myself back to reality and realize that it takes all kinds to make the world go around. It feels good to finally realize that I and my business do still have a place in this world: a place for classic, clean and yet fun and simple portraiture. Thanks to you that are reading this and to those who have chosen me to capture special moments in yours or your child's life. This has been an incredible journey that God as lead me to and is still leading me through. I covet your prayers as I struggle with the changes that have changed the industry and the many changes that I have gone through and will soon be going through in my personal life.

So I digress...so did NOT have that in mind along with post. As most of you know that do follow, I tend to do things from the heart and sometimes I just don't know what direction it is taking me.

BEAUTIFUL BALLERINAS

This past weekend I photographed two mini sessions. Do you recognize these two beautiful ballerinas? They needed photographs for the ads that I purchased for the upcoming recital program books. Both of these girls (my beautiful daughter and sweetheart granddaughter) are so photogenic. So hard to choose my faves for the ad, but I pretty sure both of the images will make the ad.

WHO IS THIS? or WHAT IS THIS?

Doesn't this baby girl seems to be saying, "WHO IS THIS?" or "WHERE DID THIS COME FROM?" or maybe "WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THIS?" I love the perplexing look on her face. Yes, she is one of the same babies in WHO'S THIS WEDNESDAY?

So far, no one has made an attempt as guessing these babies names. Did I make it too hard since I photographed these babies five years ago? Maybe before some of my regular followers started having babies and were not aware of many of the other babies around at the time? So I am going to change it up. If you can name two of the three babies, be the first one to comment, you will win, a FREE 11X14 portrait or $100 off of a new session fee package. OMG...I just made a lovely boo boo. I posted NATALIE'S WORLD Flashback Friday post here on Jami Ainsworth Portraits blog. I could scream. This is definitely one of the pitfalls of having several blogs. I've done this before, but I usually delete or it was between my two personal blogs. I am not deleting it because it was a very long post. It's not like I can copy and paste it to the other one or I would. TO VIEW THE LAST POST OR THE ONE THAT IS TODAY'S FLASHBACK POST THAT INCLUDES THIS COLLAGE CLICK HERE or scroll past the next one.

Sorry folks. I will try to do better. Actually I thought I was because I am actually posting again. LOL at myself.

Flashback Friday (12.05.09)

This could easily be called BackTracking, but since it is Friday, I am going to call it Flashback Friday. This were taken 12.05.09 and the night before.

I really didn't believe we were going get the snow that they were predicting, but it was certianly cold enough for anything! I had done jr. high cheerleader photos Friday afternoon. I was going to take Natalie with me, but it was sooooo cold. Randy offered to skip hunting and come home to stay with her. It was quite funny because when I was getting ready to leave the house and Natalile knew I was going to do this so she did NOT fall asleep easily like she normally did during our naptime routine. [This was during the time that she was staying here during her parents finals at LSU.] I told her that she was staying home even though she had expressed the desire to go with me. I guess I failed to explain everything (about Poppa coming to stay with her) because when I was getting dressed she looked up at me and told me that she was going to be by herself. I chuckled and explained to her that Poppa would be there before I left.

These first few photos are some of the sights that I saw early the next a.m. while everyone was still sleeping. That night we could not believe it was still snowing. I had picked up a few things and Wal-mart picked up a copy of the DVD, The Grinch. It was so nice and cozy snuggling with my sweetheart and hunny on the couch while it was snowing outside and watching a Christmas movie. By the way, Natalie loved the movie. Randy and I had not seen it in a while. I forgot how funny it was! I kept getting up to see if it was still snowing. It was snowing quite hard at time, but it seemed to be stopping before we went to sleep...which is why I quite surprized to see the snowy white landscapes when I woke u the next morning. I was afraid that it would melt very quickly so I bundled up and took a few photos before anyone else woke up.

Okay, excuse these night photos. I grabbed my camera quickly as I unloaded it from the car that night when I came home. For all we knew this was all the snow we would get...so I did not want to take a change and miss a few of my little sweetheart in the snow.

If you look close you see a few flakes in Natalie's hair, but not accumlation yet on the deck.

Now you really see the white polk-a-dots on the black background of the night sky. I really shows up on Randy's black carhart coat too. Of course, you see even more in her hair.

She thought it was so neat.

The next morning after I took a few photos while everyone else slept, I decided I better wake them up before it all melted. I also, half jokingly, mentioned to Cari that we should do a Christmas Card photo. We had been planning to do some the Saints. I had wanted to do all four of them (Cam, Britt, Cari & Nat), but I had already realized with al schedules that it was going to just be Natalie and Cari. I was very surprized the Cari was game. So we rushed around getting ready to get out there and take them before the sun came up any more...I wanted "sweet light",but not only that, I wanted to get them done before the snow melted and so that we would have time to play in it too.

A few of my faves:

I knew I wasn't going to use this one, but I couldn't resist take it. Too bad we didn't own some Saints boots. As cute as Zebra boots are they didn't really go with the look that we had in mind for our Christmas Greeting.

Yes, it was very cold. And this is Natalie telling me that she was cold and that she wanted to put her coat on.

In fact, she didn't want to play in it right away. She had to warm up a bit. So I took a few more "scene" photos and some of Cari.

Okay, I think we got more than one, but I captured only one really good one of both babies, only one wall portrait worthy and here IT IS!

We were beginning to wonder if this portrait session was going to happen. We've been planning for months to do cotton field portraits of these two, but before the cotton was ready, the rain came down and down, day after day. Just when it was looking good, it started raining again. I had planned to do this tomorrow evening, but then Monday night I watched the news and weather. Guess what I learned? Yes, more rain for Thursday...at least it's not predicted to rain several weeks, just one day. I am so glad that this session finally happened. It was your typical session: one child looking when the other is not and vice versa and then when you least expect it, you get a moment like this!

SISTERS: MaCee and Marlee

This little sister did NOT want to "do pictures" this day. We tried everything in the world. At this point we are walking around (changing scenes, redirecting, getting her mind off the subject--whatever you want to call it), but at this point we are looking for birds. That's what she is pointing at.

And I resort to following Marlee for a bit...

And yeah, she still has a little 3-year-old attitude at this point.

Often it certainly takes a little (okay..a lot) of patience when photographing children.
But eventually she changes her mood and we get images like this...

I've watched this little girl grow up a lot over the years. (If I still have files that are easily accessible, I will have to post one of her before she had a baby sister on a "Then and Now" post.)

As you can see, she made a great model.

So hard to capture portraits with the new one and the older sib when the sibling is getting tired of it all.

How sweet is this of Little Miss Madison and her baby brother.

Madison was just precious. She has been here different times doing portraits and I love that she walked in her like walking into her grandmother's house. I could be her Mimi too...in a heartbeat!

This little girl has stolen her dads heart. It was so obvious how much these two love each! I could tear up right now just thinking about what a priviledge it was to witness this.

Since Addison just turned two, we went outside to capture her TWO-YEAR PORTRAITS too. I love how beautiful her eyes are in this image and her curious express.

Flashback Friday

Okay...I wanted to do a "THEN AND NOW THURSDAY" using some of Layne's images from his first session, then when he was one, two and then the newest one. Okay...I missed out on Thursday. I had a newborn session, took my little sweetheart to her Aunt Cari's pep rally and then she and Iwent to an out-of-town ball game. She is such sweet little cheerleader.

Oops...back to FLASHBACK FRIDAY. I wanted to do something with Layne's images--showing some changes in his short little life. I thought Layne was a great candidate for this since his PREVIOUS POST brought in several comments. What I wasn't counting on was seeing the differences in my black and white conversions that I made over the last few years.

Many things about the way I do photography may have changed, but the love of mother and child certainly hasn't. Maybe that's why I am always drawn back to my love of photography. What a great joy for me to capture this for them.

MAKENNA and her mommy

I am backtracking so much today. And here I am the next day adding the text. My little sweetheart walked into the door before I finished.

The first image of Makenna is my favorite close-up from this session. I have so many faves that I can't say my fave from the whole session. Makenna was that fun age this summer when I photographed her.

THIS IS LAYNE. Layne just turned three back in the summer. But his mommy and I decided that the fall would be a better time to capture this milestone in portraits. I took this just a few days ago, last Saturday afternoon (the first official weekend of fall). I must admit it didn't feel too fall like, but it certainly felt much better than the middle of summer.

I have photographed him first as a newborn and several times since. It is so sweet to watch children grow up in photographs.

Isn't he a handsome little guy? I just love him!

I love this one. My images often post out of order...the last image in this post, I prompted him to hug and kiss his mommy (before this was taken), but what I love about this one so much is the fact that he just did it! So, so sweet! Kind of makes me miss mine being a little boy...sniff, sniff.

Serious...but for some reason, I just love this one too!

When I was sitting across the swing (doing my thing), I could not resist trying to capture this. Yeah, you know what I am talking about...THE EYELASHES!

Note from photograper (Updated 01.05.10) After doing my session fees this way for over a year, I am very pleased with these session fee packages. As I made this changes the end of 2009 and through 2010, I found some things that needed tweaking. Many of this things, I did those as I went along, but I haven't updated this web page to reflect that. This past year has been a great year of photography and I love the way things have evolved and I think my clients to do. I love this close-up of his beautiful face.

He has an usual shade of hair...blondish with a red tint. He looks great in this green!

I've know this little guy's mommy for a while. Today was my first day to meet him. He was such a sweet newborn even if he preferred eating all morning long over having his portrait done!

And what a resemblance! This is Madison 2 and half years ago!

And this is Bryson's big sister, Madison, today!

Both babies were approximately 4 weeks old for their newborn session...a little older than the ideal newborn session age. Just the same, I think we captured some priceless images 2.5 years ago as well as today. I will try to post more of these later, but I couldn't resist giving a sneakpeak.

I love Eli's strawberry blonde hair, such a unique trait for a newborn.

My favorite feature about a newborn is how they still curl up like before they were born.

This little guy slept so well, but I am pleased that I did get a least one nice image of him awake.

I am still alive...

Yes, I am still alive. I have just been overwhelmed. Not only I have not completely re-covered from the computer issues, but my home/studio has been going through some major changes. Some that were long overdue, but none the less quite an ordeal. Everything that was in my little office (and if you have ever been here, you know that I had quite outgrown it) ended up in the living room right next to it. Now about 75% of it ended up in my son's bedroom along with many, many other things.

I now have a fresh coat of paint on the walls and ceiling in most rooms (several more rooms to go), but the biggest mess came from repair made to all the cracks in the walls and ceiling that was a direct result of the lifting of the house several more feet, replacing the foundation (all at the same time) and then building a porch that was done last year (Spring 2008). Several other projects were also involved in this: we have closed up a wall (my breakfast room/camera room) and also built a closet in my bedroom. [Winter 2008 did even more inside contruction work.] While when these ideas pop in our head (okay maybe mine) they seem quit simple, but they never are!

So yes, I am still alive. My business, household work and my mental state of mind have suffered. I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I will begin trying to finish editing, make a few orders that I have received through all of these, but I above all I will begin organzing it back to functional capacity again...at least I hope so...that's my desire. I will also be annoucing some new changes with JAMI AINSWORTH PORTRAITS too very soon.

Thanks for you patience (even though it's not like you had much of an option). I am truly sorry!

JUST TOUCHING BASE

I know I have been MIA again. It was already chaos around here because of the painting/construction that we are trying to finish (that was started last year). But more recently, my computer has been sick. It has been in the "computer hospital" since Monday. While it has been nice to concentrate on so many other things that need to be done around here, my work is getting behind again....so now what's new, huh? Enough said.

I just wanted touch base with you guys who may or may not be wondering what's going on here. I am also contemplating what/if there will be any promotions this fall or for Christmas. I have lots of great idea, but as I have been doing some cleaning/organizing as I move things around for painting, I realize that one reason that I do NOT want to work because of the unorganized mess that has developed in my mist of working like crazy all the time. When I make the decision of what I will be doing, I will make a post dedicated to that.

For now...you know what going on!

CADE AND MACY

CADE I love the crop of this image. I was cropping a favorite image (shown here in color in the basket) for a close-up shot in one of the parts collages of him. Now I think it is one of my favorite images (cropped just like this) from the whole session.

I love the way babies hold their feet.

I like the way he is leaning in on this one. Of course, we were holding our breath in hopes that he would NOT decide to lunge out the chair. [We did have his mommy spotting him, but it is always one of my fears.]

This was series/group of images captured with his sister with them being angels and I zoomed in for this sweet one of just him. I think it is just precious.

After dance camp, being sick (that I am still getting over), mini vacation, birthday party and I am sure some other details that I am over looking at the moment, I have been doing some catching up this week on editing and ordering too.
