The next three images of this little active 4-month old are of him being a little Rolly Polly. That's all he wanted to do...roll, roll and roll over again! It was quite funny now that I look back on it...not so much at the time!

Boy, was he fast!

Nicholas is also the little recent tea cup baby that I recently posted. It was captured the same day. He was really get tired of this "portrait" business and was about done. So I decided it was time to see what he would do in the tea cup! If you missed this image, click here.

ARE YOU READY FOR ANOTHER BABY IN A TEA CUP?

FOUR MONTH OLD

3-4 MONTHS SEEMS TO BE THE IDEAL AGE FOR CAPTURING THESE BABIES IN THE TEA CUP. This is baby Nicholas again...my what a difference a few months makes in a baby's life , huh? This is the second baby that I have photographed recently that was just not happy at all at this point....so I am thinking...try the tea cup...he's probably going to scream anyway, but what a great way to end a session!

Instead this munchin, starting laughing and smiling. I don't get it! Though I am wondering if they start laughing and smiling because they are laughing at us (photographer and mommy) laughing at them! Maybe...

Love this expression too...after a few minutes he didn't seem to know what to think of us laughing at him or what he was doing in the funny container and this is the expression we got.

GENERAL INFORMATION ANYONE:
Saturday is my October promotion for "just babies" and the Pumpkin Baby Day (costume)! I do still have a few openings for the afternoon. If you are looking for preview images from "just babies" for September, I am almost through with them. Remember I did the a week late because of sickness and between me deal with my chronic sinus trouble and additional portrait session, it is taking me a few days than I thought. I should have them posted over the weekend or sometime Monday.

I have more images to post soon for the last "just babies" promotion that I mentioned and some other newborn portraits as well. But for now that will be it. I have a one-year old session to do in a bit.

LILA AND HER FAMILY

This was my first time to meet baby Lila. I have known her mommy for a long time. She was one of my first family portraits after moving here. Her family has changed a lot over the years. When I met her the first time, she had a different husband and her son was the baby. I don't have any of those images handy since that was in the days of film. All my negs are filed away, but I do still have them. Then a few years later, she was recovering from the emotional roller coaster of a divorce. She wanted a portrait of herself and two children. She wanted a portrait that said, "we're okay". It really touched me and even inspired me and you know---I really understood. I have never been through a divorce, but I knot the ups and downs of a marriage (even after 22 years--your gonna have them). So I felt priviledged to the photographer to capture this milestone in her adult life...the milestone that says that I can stand on my own--that I am fine as long as I have my children.

A little more time passed and Lila's mom called again. She had a new life, a new husband and a brand new baby, Mena. She wanted some newborn portraits and her children photographed. I will try to go through my files and post a few of Baby Mena. Before Christmas I get another phone call, a new baby and of course, we need new portraits but we didn't schedule them until the next phone call. "LIFE IS WHAT HAPPENS WHILE WE ARE BUSY MAKING OTHER PLANS". I am sure this is espically true when you have four children. Thus it took some mental planning on her part. Lila was the suprize baby that often families get unexpectantly, but the best things in life often are not planned.

So Baby Lila was a little past newborn, but still quite adorable and very much resembling her older sister (as I remembered her...we'll see how true it is when I find those other images).

I hope Lila's mommy doesn't mind me sharing this with my viewers because it sort of puts what I do in people's lives into perspective. It makes me realize the impact of what I do and what an awesome opportunity that God has provided in my life as well as the lives of the people that I photograph. I do feel it is a priviledge and an honor to do what I love and to have people love what I do.

Okay...this isn't the best...not even close, but a typical version of what we were working with when it came to photographing any group portraits with Mena. Just remember she is two and just wasn't having any fun at this "photo-thing". And before long that un-happiness was contagious---notice Baby Lila's face too.

NO ONE CRYING AND EVERYONE IS IN THE IMAGE! YEAH!
These kind of sessions do get quite stressful, but rest assured. It is much more stressful to the parents than it is too me. We all have tendency to have more patience with everyone else's children and see it for what it really is: "just a bad day for a two year old" or whatever the case may be at the time. Not an award winning family portrait, but a priceless heirloom that this family will treasure forever. Portraits are one of the few things that a family purchases for the themselves that will increase in value and the longer you have it the more it will increase.

One with the bonnet...
This should have been Lydia's 3 month portrait session. Her mommy is trying to keep up with them like she did for her older sister. But we all know it is so much harder when you have the 2nd baby (for obvious reasons...now you have two to care for). But since Lydia is almost 4 months, she could hold her head up...her sister didn't do that, uh?
Isn't she a cutie with those big blue eyes? She had really filled out since I last saw her. I will try to go back and post a few from her newborn session. It was done before I started posting regular sessions.

And guess who this is? Lydia's sister, Laurel, photographed about 3 years ago.
They are wearing the same Christening dress. Their mommy wore it and so did her mommy. What a great heirloom to cherish along with beautiful baby portraits wearing it.

One of my favorite things to capture...the proverbial "foot in the mouth" well, I guess it is the actual foot in the mouth. LOL

MY LAST PORTRAIT SESSION

Aren't these the cutest brothers?

This is my most recent session (yesterday). I have tons ahead of them, but as I scanned through them, I fell in love with these images as well as these boys. They are all boy, but also as sweet as they can be. They reminded me of days when my son was a little boy...that is when he wasn't exerting his strong-will, he was as sweet and loving as he could be. (lol)

Have you ever seen any cuter little boys? Well, if you said yes, I am sure you have boys of your own. The middle boy, Cane, reminds me so much of my little cutie nephew, Dalton. Dalton has brown hair, but his eyes and dimples were almost duplicated in this child.

Cotton field portraits...I love them!

I love this one in the long horizontal crop. What mom wouldn't love this image of her boys. I know from personal experience that mothers love images of their children that we them looking "loving" towards each other, especially because they are usally fighting. But we all know that deep down they love each other. (at least we hope and pray that they do...)

These brothers were particularing fond of their baby brother. Older siblings can make a baby laugh like no one else can!
That is when they aren't in front of the camera too!

Not a big smile on Baby Jared, but a sweet pleasant overall expression from all three children---that's every photographer's desire when it comes to photographing two or more children in a group.

A little different twist in the color and tone of this image. I think Mom will like this. She mentioned really liking a spepia-toned image that is on display in my studio. Cane and Nicholas were telling their baby brother all about cotton. I don't know for sure, but this is probaby his first time to see cottton, but all he really wanted to was put it in his mouth!

I hope you enjoyed these as much as I do. If you know anything about me, I have become most known my fine baby portraitrue (especially newborns) thank's to my good friend and local OB/GYN, my newborn work has continued to grow tremendously the last few years. From time to time, it is refreshing to do something different!. And fun to show that yes, I do do other work too. I often get asked if I only photographs babies. At one time I considered specializing exclusively in infants, but since then I have changed my mind (at least for now)...though babies are still my favorite and I think always will be. I think I have always loved babies and baby stuff. It was so fun when my babies were little dressing them in cute baby clothes , blankets and such...now I have so much fun "playing baby doll" with my little Natalie (my 27 month old granddaughter). And as long as I continue to do what I do, I get to keep playing.
