ANOTHER NEWBORN BOY: DOUGLAS (and yes, I am still backtracking)

ABOVE IMAGE: BY FAR IS MY FAVORITE IMAGE FROM THIS SESSION, ESPECIALLY WITH THIS TIGHT SQUARE CROP! Gees...my eyes must be playing drinks because of how late it is (11:40 pm) because I had to go to Preview to make sure it was a square!

This is a second child session...meaning I photographed his older sibling (sister) less than 2 years ago. I used to try to duplicate the session...well, I learned the hard way [ Is there any other way to learn a lesson?] that is pretty much impossible. My goal is to try to get one or two images similiar to the other sib. There was a similiar image like this of Julia from her newborn session. I will try to go to my older files and find it and then post this one again...it's fun to compare. I usually think they look just like the older sibling and then once I get them side-by-side, I realize they have as many different features as like. But not on this one, I actually think he has his on look...maybe it's his masculine BOY LOOK!

Second children are very special, but often don't get the hand-knitted blanket that the FIRST CHILD had....okay...I know from personal experience. Disclaimer: You (we) are busy being parents and spouses...who has time for kniting (or even crocheting)!

I try to always get this image...it has become one of my newborn signature images. Besides Douglas being a 2nd child and all (sharing his time w/older sibs), he was also dealing with some tummy troubles. I don't think we got any really great images of him curled up on his tummy! But you have to admit...this is just as priceless!

This image was actully captured a few weeks earlier to during my holiday sessions, but we knew it would be good to save some of these to include in their Holiday Birth Annoucements. She was exceptionally cooperative (for a Toddler) that day...not so much on this day! Who could blame her, after all, she is coping with sharing her parents with this helpless little infant!


We tried very hard for a sweet image of the two together for the Holiday greeting. It is really hard to bribe (I mean reward) a child this young enough to get what you (we) really want. But I was pleased with this one enough...I am thinking it made their card/annoucement!

BABY GIRL: Little Miss Olivia Kate

OLIVIA KATE Little Miss Oliva Kate is almost one year old in these images.

I realized after getting these images ready for the blog that have these first two images twice. The first two were aleady black and white that were cropped to square sizes for the collage that I created for Oliva Kate's mommy. Oh well...you get to see two version of the same capture.

I love them in black & white and color. Do you have a favorite? Which do you perfer the first two images and the next two?

MY FIRST TEA PARTY...

As an angel...

I know she has a tear in her eye, but there is something about this image that i love so much...it remind me of something I have seen in print work...maybe Anne Geddes...I do now remember a particular one. I have been trying to think of the quote she had with the image. I will try to find it and add it later. It also reminds me of magazine image.

One of my very favs from the whole session...

I met Oliva Kate this summer at vacation bible school. Her mommy volunteered to help teach the kids...I volunteered to help in the nursery. Oliva Kate was my little baby that week. I think we actually bonded that week. It was my pleasure to photograph her and create these beautiful images that she and her family will treasure forever.

NEWBORN BABY BOY--GREAT AGE: 7 DAYS OLD

I usually prefer black and white images over color, but I really love this one [above]. I also usually prefer newborn portraits asleep, occasionally I get a great capture like this one of them awake. The more I look at this image the more I love it. I think he looks like a Porcelain Newborn Baby Boy Doll!

I haven't done a towel newborn image in awhile. When I knew I was getting this one so young, I wanted to do one. I am pleased with the results.

a simple square collage...

I was looking forward to photographing this newborn. I photographed him about 3 weeks ago. It had been a while since I had photographed a newborn [remember I am catching up...thus all the other newborns posted recently were not recent sessions], but what I was really looking forward to was such a young newborn...they are usually still so asleep and so much easier the younger they are. From these images, you would guess that he was just as easy as I was anticipating. NO...IT DID QUITE GO LIKE I WAS PLANNING...but after much swaddling and his mommy nursing him we got beautiful results!

For some reason, when I was editing, I fell in love with this image. I loved the first one when I picked a few to do the birth annoucements a while back, but now I think this one is one my new favorite.

The New Family of Three

Okay, I was getting closer to getting caught up. This would have been it, but I have done a lot of new work recently...the last promo, and several new sessions.

I intended to have these done Monday, but in addition to everything else, I am still battling with my chronic sinus problems. It's the middle of the week and I finally had a productive day.

I still have a little more to do on this session and another newborn session. This will give you something new to view. More general information on several upcoming events to be posted soon.

OUR LITTLE TIGER!

Often when I do portfolio, business cards, etc., I forget to use images of OUR LITTLE TIGER. But not this time! HERE SHE IS!

She's not the easiest child to work with...so as soon as I was pleased with a pose, I moved on. I am trying to prevent photographer's child (grandchild) burnout. Natalie's daddy is still suffering from it. Maybe not...he never minds taking a photograph with his Little Tiger!

I think my two favorite images are the first one and the "U" image in the storyboard. I only took one of her with the "U". I was pleased. So that was it.

I had a little mini session with Natalie this morning too as you can see since I was in the "mini" session state of mind. I did her in another little dress too. I will post one or two from that tomorrow or the next day. I hope you enjoy these for now!

THREE-MONTH OLD BABY HAYDEN & ALI, TOO

Hayden and his cousin, Ali I photographed them a while back and it was actually Ali's 3-month portrait session and Baby Hayden just came for the ride. Well, I guess you could call it that. He didn't have a clue he was there much less being photographed. If you are need to my blogs, you should check it in the link above this image.

Ali is now six-months old is this image. Isn't she even more adorable now than she was 3-months ago?

Okay, that's one more session completely edited and ready for client viewing. Believe it or not, I am getting closer and closer to being caught up! Yea!

Does this "Little Tiger" look familiar? Good thing I had the bow in her hair so you wouldn't think she's a boy. Yes, this is our little Natalie almost 2 years ago. She has several cheerleader outfits and other LSU attire now, but not so many then. I didn't get into buying her lots of LSU stuff until later. I wanted to make sure her daddy would be attending LSU. He is in his 2nd year and her mommy her 1st year. So I guess it is safe to say we are LSU fans. I know the rest of my family is. I am not a big sports fan so it really doesn't matter to me, but since everyone else is, I am guess I am too. After all anything with LSU on it sells! So why not LSU PORTRAITS...

This is a simple but classic LSU STORYBOARD that will be available from these sessions.

one of my favorite images from Our Little Tiger's LSU session (last fall) I did entire LSU SESSION of Natalie last fall in two different cheerleader suits. Yes, it was another one of my over-the-top sessions. I photographed over 100 images with over 30 or 40 as my favorite. I created storyboard/collage of a variety of images from the session for Natalie's daddy's birthday. It was his b'day gift from Natalie!

Now I know everyone doesn't want 100 images or even 30 or 40 with LSU attire thus the whole LSU theme. I don't even want this many any more. I want to learn to shoot less...sort of like quality verses quantity. One way for me to learn to do this is through the mini sessions. "Just Babies" is going to just a great learning tool for me (teaching myself to not-overshoot) and it is going to so great for the consumer too. I will elaborate on this on my next post. Later today or tomorrow.

Another Storyboard: Based on the images photographed I will choose to create either a vertical or horizontal storyboard.

Another favorite from the same year!

I wanted to do some LSU PORTRAIT of Our Little Tiger this weekend while she was here, but I wanted a new idea. I have come up with, but I need to purchase a few new props to go with it. So I will have to do hers later.

Over the last few years, I have done a variety of different LSU Themed portraits as part of someone's custom portrait session. But I wanted to show classic, but simple poses on this post because that's what will be availabe from the "Just Babies" promotion this week. At this age the cutest and most simple works best!

FOR NON LSU FANS: I KNOW THERE ARE SOME OF YOU OUT THERE. SO FEEL FREE TO BRING YOUR OWN PROPS AND YOUR OWN COLLEGE THEME ATTIRE. MY BLOOD ISN'T PURPLE AND GOLD! I DON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEM PHOTOGRAPHING CHILDREN WHO PARENTS SUPPORT OTHER TEAMS. OKAY!

AINSLEY'S ONE YEAR PORTRAIT SESSION

THIS IS MY VERY FAVORITE IMAGE FROM THIS SESSION Ainsley's one-year portrait session was captured at Frogmore Plantation, her grandparent's home. As you can see this was a beautiful place to capture this milestone in Little Miss Ainsley's life. When the opportunity presents itself, I love to do portrait sessions at special locations that have significance to the families involved. It was in the middle of summer when these were done. So, yes, it was very hot. But we waited until "sweet light" time and photographed her until the sun was going down which seemed to coincide with her patience with us.

I love images like this. Aren't those eyelashes adorable?

This is Ainsley's version of ''smelling". She is "smelling" the flowers, but she is actually blowing on the flower. The little things like this are so precious about babies. It is so sweet watching them and seeing how they learn new things...new things as simple as smelling a flower.

I love the lighting in her eyes in this one.

This is actually one of using her "baby" sign language that her mommy taught her. Now I am new to this, but if my memory serves me right, this was "more". I think she wanted more crackers that her mommy was sharing with her to keep her patient through our last few images.

"PEEK-A-BOO" We even tried playing peek-a-boo around me to get her attention, but she just wanted to play peek-a-boo too!

As you can see from the large number of images that I included that I had many favorites from this session. I have a simple storyboard that I will post later today or this weekend.
