BEAUTIFUL TINY BABY AVA...

Beautiful tiny baby definitely describe this baby girl. I met Ava last Friday (01.11.08). I have several sessions ahead of her to edit before I get to the rest of Ava's images. I have purposely saved some of my favorties so that her mommy will still be pleasantly surprised when she sees the final presentation. I quickly picked some out to create several birth annoucments for her parents to view and make their final choice. My turnaround time may be slower than some photographers for completion of the final slideshow presentation, but the best things in life are worth waiting for. RIGHT?

Birth Annoucements are usually (w/certain exeptions) delivered or ready for pick up with 2 -3 weeks of the date the session took place...that is if the parent can make a decision. Since I started doing several choices for people to select from, sometimes it is longer.

A BEAUTIFUL IMAGE OF BABY AVA IN COLOR!

Probably 75% of my newborn images are in black and white. I love black & white, but newborns just photograph beautifully in bw. As one client said one time, "Black and white hides a mulitude of sins". Of course, babies have no sin. But often they have lot of skin imperfections as this is a common newborn trait. After all, their skin that has been kept moist (floating in water) for 9 months all of suddenly is surving the world w/o water. Of course, most of the skin issues develop around two and half to three weeks and may last weeks. Another good reason to do those newborn portraits as soon as possible. In fact, I even recommend people pre-scheduling before baby is born...somewhat like you pre-register with the hospital. Ava was 15 days old. She was born weighing only 4 lbs and 11 oz. So she may look even younger than she is though I was told she was over 5 lbs by her one week check up.

I love, love this image of Ava and her big brother, Gage. Isn't he just a doll too?

Sometimes we have problems getting them too sleep. Even as such a tiny infant and still so young, Ava, was no exception. But once we got her there she stayed alseep until it was time to eat again. Though she looks wide awake here, she opened her eyes a few times to see what was going on and then went back to sleep to capture even more beautiful relationship images with her family.

This is Baby Walker (4 weeks) and his older sister, Riley. Walker is a little older than the ideal age for newborn portraits, but it is a little difficult when babies are born during the holidays.

One of the sample birth annoucement that I designed for Walker's mommy. Of course, their actual annoucements won't have Jami Ainsworth Portraits across the top of it like this one.

ANOTHER NEWBORN

INTRODUCING BABY ELLA.

Ella was 12 days old for her newborn session. The perfect age for a newborn portrait session. I haven't finsihed all her editing yet. Since I am a low volume studio photographer (who likes things down my way), who tends to overbook at a time when I shouldn't (because I want them at that perfect age) and who spends lots of waking hours waking hours with my beautiful granddaughter, my turnaround time is longer than the average photographer. Once the mommy sees her final presentation, she usually agrees that it was worth the wait. For those who want something quick (ASAP) to share with friends and family, I offer custom designed birth annoucements. I usually email sample annoucements to the mommy within 10 days of the session and I then have the final product within a week of confirmation of which birth annoucment they chose. People often ask me what is my favorite. I like them all. That's why I designed so many....I overshoot. I have many images to edit (hence the longer turnaround time) and then I narrow it down to my favs, which are usually over 100 images including color, bw, relationship and squares for the square collages. So sometimes I have too many favorites for the annoucements too--not to mention that some people like only one image, some want the parents (or siblings in this case) in the design, some like color, some black & white, and some like a mix. So offer a variety of choices.

The angel wings along with the "from God" are probably my most known style of portraits for newborns. Since I do these often because people see them so much, they are my signature style and people want them because they see them. More recently, I have started doing a lot of black on black like with the "BEAUTIFUL BABY BOY" Session that I posted just before this one. But this baby got all white because the beautiful newborn earlier that day, left pee and poo all over the black backgrounds. "I promise, Rebecca, it really is okay." That is part of it! I try not to do two in the same day, but because of my limited session time available because of the holidays and the time I spend my little sweetheart, I felt it necessary. Well, all white session still works too. Baby Ella proved it in these images.

BEAUTIFUL BABY BOY!

I started this blog to give information regarding the Christmas promotion. And since then I have begun to add other images. Most of you know that I am most know for my newborns work. So I guess you have been wondering..."where are the newborns". So finally here's a few from a newborn session...

LET ME INTRODUCE BABY KOBE. I PHOTOGRAPHED BABY KOBE BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS. BETWEEN THE HOLIDAYS, LOTS OF NEW SESSIONS AND MY USUAL BEGINNING OF YEAR SINUS INFECTION....I AM SLOWLY BUT SURELY TRYING TO CATCH UP. THIS IMAGE OF KOBE (16 days old) IS MY NEW FAVORITE NEWBORN IMAGES AND I GUESS IT WILL BE MY FAVORITE UNTIL I GET A NEW FAVORITE. His mommy brought this cap for him to be photographed in. She thinks he looks like one of Anne Geddes babies. I must admit that I think he does too. I LOVE THE WAY YOU CAN CURL THOSE LITTLE NEWBORNS INTO FETAL POSITION AGAIN!

MARLEE'S ONE PORTRAIT SQUARE COLLAGE

This is one of the square collages that Marlee's mom chose to order. I was planning to add more of her along with these 4 mos. and 7 mos. baby girl images. Marlee's was her formal one-year portrait combined with a cake session too. I will add more later. I just didn't want the last upload to be a text post. I like for photos to always come up first when you log on.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PORTRAIT AGES FOR INFANTS

AGES THAT I RECOMMEND FOR FORMAL PORTRAITS FOR INFANTS: I recently had someone to email requesting images of a 5 month old. I could probably dig a little deeper to find some 5 month...but most would be 4 mos. or 6 mos. I recommend babies to be photographed at intervals of milestones rather than age.

• NEWBORN 5 days to 3 wks. (preferably the younger the better)
• 
  
• HOLDING HEAD UP (for a long period of time) while on tummy... 3-4 mos.; but usually closer to 4 mos.
• 
  
• SITTING UP (w/o aid and also for long period of time) 6-8 mos., but usually closer to 7 mos.
  
• STANDING UP (with or w/o aid) this is usually close to first birthday thus make a great one-year/birthday portrait session

LAKEN: 7 mos. old

This is Laken. Her mommy is my hair dresser. Go figure...the hair dresser's baby is the one with no hair. I think I remember her mommy telling me she was about 3 yr. old before she had hair. It's like Laken will be at least walking before she has hair!
